HTC Vive Sells 15k in only 10 minutes


HTC's Virtual Reality headset, Vive, went up for preorder yesterday morning for $799. Within the first 10 minutes, the company sold over 15,000 units, according to a tweet sent out by Shen Ye, VR product specialist for HTC.

When the price tag of $799 was annouced few weeks ago many fans and critics said it might have priced it self out. With so many units sold within the first 10 minutes, It seems the price didn't deter VR enthusiasts. HTC Vive sales surpassed expectations forcing the Korean-based company to now ship new orders at a later date.

With the current trend of VR headsets selling at higher than expected 2016 is going to go down as the year of VR. SonyVR and Oculus rift are also slated to ship to consumers sometime this year. It will certainly be an exciting year for VR.
